Cancelled games and vaporwareEdit

Due to various reasons (ranging from being of poor quality, being produced for a failed or soon-to-be-discontinued system or having its developer facing financial or legal woes), a game can end up being cancelled and cease production. Despite their status, concepts present in cancelled games can end up being reused in commercial releases and some cancelled games can end up being re-purposed into different projects.

A game in development can also end up being vaporware, a term for projects that are announced on which development is started but, for a variety of reasons, were never published.

Following is a list of cancelled Geoshea games and vaporware.

Title Platforms Developed by Reason/Description Development/Announcement
Geoshea Evolution 2 PlayStation Psygnosis and Geoshea Games Co. A sequel to Geoshea Evolution, cancelled for unknown reasons. A sequel to Geoshea Evolution was announced by Sony Computer Entertainment in October 1997, but in 1998, Sony dropped the sequel.
Geoshea n' Roll! PlayStation Geoshea Games Co. Got reworked into Grand Theft Auto: Geoshea Edition for the Universal Odyssey. This game was originally announced for release on the PlayStation. By July 1999, this game was a Universal Odyssey launch title as Grand Theft Auto: Geoshea Edition.
Untitled Geoshea PlayStation 2 Game PlayStation 2 Geoshea Games Co. Cancelled due to Sony losing the rights for the Geoshea series. A unnamed Geoshea title was being developed by Geoshea Games, Co. and published by Sony Computer Entertainment and Universal Interactive Studios for the PlayStation 2 however no screenshots or video of gameplay were ever released, and the game was cancelled in 2000 due to Sony losing the rights for the Geoshea series.
Grand Theft Auto: Bikini Bottom Universal Odyssey, PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, Xbox Runecraft and Geoshea Games Co. with additional work by Mobius Entertainment, Rockstar Canada, Barking Dog Studios, Neo Software, Angel Studios, Tarantula Studios, DMA Design (oversaw development) A sequel to Grand Theft Auto: Geoshea Edition, cancelled due to development problems. A sequel to Grand Theft Auto: Geoshea Edition was announced in June 2000, and was set to be released for Universal Odyssey, PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube and Xbox in 2002, but it was cancelled in October 2001 due to development problems. As the title suggests, it would've taken place in Bikini Bottom, and possibly have featured more SpongeBob SquarePants characters. An early footage gameplay was leaked in March 2013.[1] A build does exist, but it's very buggy in the graphics department, possibly because it got cancelled before they could fix graphic issues. It can only come in Spanish and English (The English ones are more rare).
Argonaut Games pitch N/A Argonaut Games and Geoshea Games, Co. Cancelled in favor of Croc 3: Stone of the Gobbos, which in turn had been cancelled. Argonaut Games began working on a Geoshea game for Universal Interactive Studios. The project didn't get very far, and instead, Argonaut went on to produce Croc 3: Stone of the Gobbos, which was later cancelled due to the studio closing in 2004.
Geoshea Smash Bros. Universal Odyssey Geoshea Games, Co. Got reworked into Geoshea Fighters. It was officially announced by Geoshea Games, Co. in August 2002. It was going to be exclusive to release on the Universal Odyssey and it would be released in 2003. It never surfaced, and is suspected by some to be an early version of Geoshea Fighters.
Red Puckett Universal Odyssey, PlayStation 2, Xbox, Nintendo GameCube Geoshea Games, Co. An action-adventure spin-off to the Geoshea series, cancelled for unknown reasons. It was announced in 2004 that Red Puckett would be given her own video game, but it was later cancelled in 2005. However, Geoshea Games, Co. developed a tech demo for the game. The game was not intended to be released, however it was playable.
Geoshea World Xbox, Nintendo GameCube Geoshea Games, Co. and THQ Studio Australia Cancelled due to low sales for Xbox and limited resources for GameCube along with Spider-Man 3, The Simpsons Game and Shrek the Third. N/A
Geoshea World 2 Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 3 Geoshea Games, Co. and THQ Studio Australia/Toronto Cancelled in 2013 due to closure of THQ. (Coming soon)
